Tremont Security Cameras and TwiFi

TwiFi is lucky to have safety and security in Tremont — in the form of the Tremont Network Video Recorder project — as a partnering cause.

The Tremont Network Video Recorder (NVR) is a computer-based video recorder that acquires and stores video from security cameras placed around the neighborhood.. Cameras can be purchased and installed by residents, organizations, block clubs, etc., to be connected to the NVR system. Live and recorded video can be accessed over the internet, (generally) by TWDC Safety Committee, law enforcement, and camera owners.

The NVR is housed at Tremont West Development Corporation’s offices. The cameras are connected to TWDC wirelessly — that’s where TwiFi comes in.

Providing the infrastructure for the camera network will help us build out TwiFi’s wireless mesh.

For more on the Tremont NVR, view the PDF flyer, read Chuck Hoven’s article in the Plain Press, TWDC president paves way for increased community involvement, or contact Cristi Mueller, TWDC Business Manager, at 216-575-0920.

Tremont has a few more security resources on the web. Check out Crime Watch Tremont, (A Community Resource for Cleveland’s Tremont Neighborhood,) or the Tremonter Crime and Safety Forum.
